My name is Aaron Conn and I'm an aspiring music journalist. If you haven't seen my blog yet, I like to write about classic rock and heavy metal music. My articles vary from updates on classic artists, album reviews, album anniversary articles and so on. I try to post as much as I can.
My love for classic rock started in 2000 when I heard of a band named the Beatles. I had heard of them before but their music I hadn't. It turned out they wrote a couple of songs I already knew at 8 to 9 years old. With the release of the 1 compilation and getting The Beatles Anthology book for my 9th birthday, I had a head start in being introduced to a band that remains my favorite band of all time. I was soon borrowing my father's Beatles albums and ended up completing his collection (though when he unexpectedly passed the following year, my mother let me keep his Beatles albums).
My relatives seemed to encourage me to discover other bands like the Beatles and soon enough, I was listening to the Rolling Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd and various others. However, these bands didn't have secure line-ups like the Beatles did. The only way to learn who was in a band and when they left was reading their biography online or catch a documentary on VH1 or E. There was no Wikipedia so I found myself reading short biographies on websites. In doing this, I was turning myself into a walking encyclopedia of rock music. I don't think I was doing this to impress anybody: I really had an interest in learning about these bands at such a young age.
Even before my obsession in rock music began, I was already into writing. I liked being creative and writing things. When I wrote about music, it was like taking my two loves and putting them into one: music journalism.
I hope you enjoy reading through my blog. As of this writing, I've just discovered I can add more pages to the blog. So stay tuned!
Aaron
